Sunday brunch is a way of life.
I'm a real foodie. And yes, I spend hours in the kitchen tasting, smelling, feeling, seeing.. Anyways, that's not the point of this post! The point is, I love my Sunday brunch. I mean really love. I think it's because I was raised on it. I can't remember a Sunday with my family that wasn't spent out with friends and a late-morning, early-afternoon breakfast. I'm talking rich smelling coffee, sweet teas, smoked salmon, cheese platters, pancakes, pastries..what's not to love??

So yes, before I continue on with my (rather long?) ramble about AM food, I want to talk to you a bit about L'esresso Mercurio because they make a mean brunch! It's a rather pleasant spot steps from my University (U of Toronto) - right on Bloor st, and just across from their main restaurant, Bar Mercurio (also phenomenal). I've been here for brunch several times with my wonderful foodie friends (mostly Mathias and Joel) and they've been rather consistent with their plates :). I've had some of the best mocha I've ever had here, their peppermint tea is delicious and soothing - perfect for after your meal, rotating chef specials are divine...Their french toast is actually a chocolate-stuffed croissant! Served with pineapples and syrup, makes a very tasty treat for all you lovers of sweets. However, if you're looking for something lighter, their oatmeal is great too! Made with skim milk and lightly sweetened. Lots of great gluten-free pastries to try (chocolate dipped macaroons are my favorite)...oh, and it's not Sunday brunch without eggs Benedict. I like their smoked salmon one. hollandaise sauce is superb, not too thick or heavy - great consistency, light, creamy... basically everything you could want for Sunday brunch. I hope the pictures I snapped on my phone have given it justice! xx
