One of the best things about today was having an excuse to sleep in until noon, lazily get brunch with my friend Shanu, and then head off to do some shopping with a few more friends. Now all there is to do is take it easy and save up all my energy for Nuit Blanche tonight! I can cry about all the things I need to do tomorrow. In the meantime, hurray for lazy Saturdays where all you do is throw on a comfy pair of jeans, some flats, a cute top, and a warm, cashmere scarf.

Leather and Lace

I really like this incredible leather jacket given to me by a family friend. It's super soft and hug-able and feels like it's been drenched in conditioner or something (weird for leather, huh?) and has this amazing silk lining. It also makes me feel like a bit of a hot-shot bad-ass so I walked around all day with a lot of stomp to try to make my hair flow like a Victoria's Secret model and I made sure the jacket was always open so that people could get a sneak-peak of the white leather accents. My hopes and dreams where crushed however, when some random person said "wow, she looks really mad and scary." So much for my sex appeal...

Anyways...! I've spent my day rather productively so that I don't feel guilty about not doing so tomorrow. I wont have much time seeing as I'll be at Nuit Blanche! As this is my first month living in Toronto, I've never been, but many of my friends have and kindly offered to show me around. I'm pretty excited to run around in the middle of the night looking at incredible art sculptures--and bonus points that it's free of charge! Oh, and seeing as it goes from 7pm-7am, I totally have an amazing excuse to sleep in a lot tomorrow morning. Here's to waking up past noon on Saturdays!

Study Material

For some unexplainable reason, my friends would rather go out for drinks and dance than study with me in the library. Every time I ask them to join me they roll their eyes and laugh. Oh well! I have all my books, papers, and cups of strong coffee as company. Plus, I can laugh at them when they're doing their procrastinated assignments at 3am the day before it's due. Muahaha !

Today was spent running from class to class and doing some really productive reading in this outfit that makes me look like a 12-year-old goody-two-shoes school girl. The initial goal was that if I looked cute enough while reading The Epic of Gilgamesh some gorgeous prince might ride his horse to my table, say "That is my favorite book." and then we would ride off to Victoria Castle and sing with all the birds and squirrels and live happily ever after. Nope, it didn't happen...

Feelings of Fancy

Isn't it such a disappointment when you pursue someone only to find out that you probably never had a chance and all those hours spent Facebook and Twitter stalking have completely gone to waste? And then isn't it even worse when you finally say "wow screw that I'm SO over it" and then all of a sudden they start saying hi to you and insisting on talking!? Then you're confused as to what to do and take turns hating them and yourself and over thinking the entire situation. Yup. We've all been there. I guess for now I'll resort to the best kind of therapy available to mankind: pumpkin spice lattes, Ferrero Rocher, and nutella. Oh, and I'll wear a cute little beret in the hopes of looking like a romantic foreigner who actually enjoys solo strolls through the park and isn't forced to take them because no one want's to go for a walk with her.. At least I had some alone time to take pictures of these gorgeous flowers!

It's Not Sunny Everywhere

My day wasn't exactly ice-cream, sprinkles, and pretty unicorns so I'm afraid I don't have anything too sarcastic or witty to say. When my mood is a bit down, I tend to lack creativity. Despite the amazing sunshine and high 70s we got today, I've been feeling a bit under the weather. I guess it's just one of those days where things just keep getting worse and then your book bag rips and a squirrel decides to steal your favorite pencil and run over your homework assignments (not making this up). Here's to hoping tomorrow's a bit sunnier.

White Dances

I think I've gotten a bit lazy with my school work these past couple of days...and by a bit I mean a lot. And by a lot I mean not doing any of my reading for three days straight and then having to cram it all on Thursday night instead of going out with my friends. On the bright side, this cute white dress makes me feel like a bellerina and seriously motivates me to put some extra bounce in my step just so that the poofy skirt can go up and down. I think I do need a bit more practicing though..I lost count on how many times I stumbled on my way to classes - and since ballerinas never stumble, I probably looked more like a spaztastic little girl than an elegant dancer.

Drinkcessorizing

Spotting adorable little alleyways in adorable little towns really gets my lurking mood on. I think I've always found them appealing because of how quiet and empty they are which gives me the opportunity to do whatever I want without getting strange looks from people walking by. On a more relevant note, the weather is getting a bit chillier, which means I have to take advantage of wearing short skirts and light tops before it gets cold enough to get pneumonia and my aching body hates me for not throwing on a coat. There is one warm thing about my outfit though; this delicious pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks acts as both an internal heating system and an accessory. As odd as that sounds, I'm sure you all somewhat agree. I mean, at least it looks a lot classier than a McDonald' coffee cup...

Don't Cut Me Out Of Your Life

I've been obsessing over the color mint for quite some time now, so it was no surprise to me (or my closest friends) when I snagged this cut-out shirt and rushed to the check-out line without so much as a short stop to the fitting rooms. Lucky for me, the fashion gods made sure it fit perfectly. And an even bigger plus? The arm cut-outs provide the perfect amount of sneak-peak without being too sultry for class. So basically, they give me a lot of motivation to raise my hand and participate during tutorial. Woo-hoo academics!

Pink Pearls

I must admit that as I was moving away from the USA (my home for 15 years) to move to Toronto and study at U of T, I was an indifferent yet nervous wreck. Yes it sounds very...odd, but I'm sure you sort of understand, or maybe not, I am a bit crazy. Well, it's been about two fair weeks of settling in and all's been going well. The campus is beautiful, the people are friendly, the professors intriguing...what more could you ask for during your college experience? Well, anyways, I finally found the time to flip through a few pictures I took when I first arrived to Canada and that's when I stumbled over this picture of my pink pearls (one of my most prized possessions). Everyone in my dorm was like "Cool plated pearls!" and it took way too long to explain to them that some pearls are naturally pink and that I have never heard of a plated pearl but, it definitely had a ring to it! Then I thought to myself - "I should make a website dedicated to teaching people about the different types of pearls..." but then the thought of being a crazy cat/pearl-obsessed freak with no friends took the best of me. That's when I heard the pearl gods say - "on the 14th day in Canada, thou shalt create a blog to document thou's interests!"
Long story short: these pearls inspired this blog.
